Finishing up my website

 Hi Everyone!

This week I finished up the Goal Kick skill explanation and completed the page on Pass Backs. I also started creating my glossary page, so if your uncertain what pass backs are you can find in the glossary. Just as I did for the goal kicks, I explained the rules involved in pass backs and why they are an important skill for goalkeepers, however I spent the majority of the time explaining strategy and ways that goalkeepers can improve this skill. I also included the following diagrams and explanations of a common pass back situation to better explain some of the strategy that goalkeepers must consider. I also included an explanation of what each colour of dot represents (ball = white, goalkeeper = yellow, teammates = orange, opposition = red).

For completing my product, my plan is to complete the Hand Distribution skill explanation so that the full Distribution & Foot Skills section of my website is complete. I will also add to the glossary any additional terms I use and link these terms from their respective pages so the reader knows the term appears in the glossary and can quickly jump to it.

The final thing I will add for my final product is a quick notice on each page that the explanations will be added in the future and a welcome message explaining my goal in creating the website.

Researching and Categorizing Goalkeeper Skills

Hi Everyone! The first task I needed to complete for this project was brainstorming each of the different skills needed for goalkeeping. I did a little research to check if I was missing any skills, but for the most part I researched how people grouped the skills into different categories as I found a lot of skills overlapped between some of the initial categories I created. For example, positioning is a skill that can be included in a number of different categories. Where a keeper positions themself on set pieces (corner kicks, free kicks, penalties, etc.) is very important, but positioning also plays a key role in being able to break up through balls or long balls as well as cutting down angles on shots and one-on-ones. My first thought was to include each of these within the category of positioning, but there are other skills involved in one-on-ones and set pieces that aren't closely related to positioning; for example timing, anticipation (reading a shooter or play), and commu...

Continuing my website and breaking down the skills

Hi Everyone! I hope you enjoyed visiting my site and having a look at the format. This week I focused on creating the pages for each skill section, linking the specific skills to these pages, and starting with breaking down one of the skills. Here's a look at the front page of the distribution and foot skills section. I created a page with a brief heading explaining the importance of this category of skills. The skill I decided to start a breakdown of was goal kicks. I chose to start with goal kicks because it's one of the more straight-forward skills. Check out the goal kicks page below: While breaking down Goal Kicks I included links to the rules  and especially focused on the new rule change that no longer requires a goal kick to leave the box to be in play. I also highlighted the importance of learning this skill for goalkeepers and shared some of my own experience improving this skill as I gained the size required to add power to my kick. One thing I recognized while d...
